Professor/League Leader Challenge Rules

You may challenge a League Leader to a special set of TCG battles per League Session or League Season and possibly earn additional stamps for games won during this challenge. Such challenges may help prepare you for future tournaments and gain valuable experience as our League Leaders are very well versed in TCG competition.

1. League Session is defined as the weekly gatherings of our League at the defined time and place.

2. League Season is defined as the period in the League Cycle of the current League prize distribution.

3. Your deck must be built according to the Modified-Constructed Tournament-Legal Set List. League Leaders will often refuse your challenge if your deck is not legal because it contains cards that:
-Do not fall within the set list.
-Are proxies.
-Have World Championships print on the back of the card, silver borders, and/or a player’s autograph on the front of the card.
-Were obtained from Pre-Releases before the scheduled release date of that set.
-Are marked in such a way to indicate an attempt to cheat during the game.

4. Your deck may be checked by another player or League Leader to verify your deck being legal, otherwise you assume responsibility for Rule 3.

5. Single Game – You may challenge a League Leader of your choice to a single game once per League Session. You will earn 2 stamps for playing, and four 4 stamps for successfully defeating the League leader.

6. Best of 3, First to 2 – You may challenge a League Leader for your choice to a Best of 3 only once per League Season. The challenge ends when the first player wins 2 games. You will earn 4 stamps for playing if you fail to take a single game off the League Leader, 6 stamps if you win one game, and 8 stamps if you win two games.

7. Best of 5, First to 3 – You may challenge a League Leader of your choice to a Best of 5 only once per League Season. The challenge ends when the first player wins 3 games. You will earn 4 stamps for playing if you fail to take a single game off the League Leader, 8 stamps if you win one game, 12 stamps if you win two games, and 16 stamps if you win three games.

8. You cannot challenge a League Leader to a Best of 3 and a Best of 5 in the same League Session; they must be done on two separate occasions during the League Season. However, you can combine a Single Game challenge with either of these in the same League Session.

9. If, during your challenge, you are found to be in violation of Rule 3, the challenge ends immediately and will only count as a non-challenge single game for 1 stamp per game played up to that point. The challenge will count as having performed it if it was Best of 3 or Best of 5. A Single Game challenge can be redone if you modify your deck as defined in Rule 3.

10. If, during your challenge, you are found to have engaged in improper sportsmanship or gamesmanship (i.e. cheating), the challenge ends immediately and you will receive NO stamps for the challenge and will count as having performed it. Repeated offenses can ultimately result in removal of your challenge privileges for the remainder of the League Cycle.

11. Professor/League Leader Challenges do not qualify for double points during designated Double Points weekends.
